Santhosh's Success Story

When Santhosh immigrated to Canada in 2024, he immediately began to search for a job in his field: finance. Despite having solid experience and qualifications, he wasn’t getting interviews. After months of applying without luck, he took a job as a bartender to make ends meet. After nearly a year of unsuccessfully trying to break into his field, Santhosh realized it was time to try a new approach. He decided to learn more about marketing himself and highlighting his transferable skills in a way that aligned with the Canadian job market.

Santhosh reached out to Calgary Career Hub to sign up for employment services. Santhosh started meeting regularly with a Career Advisor, who helped him tailor his resume to better match job postings and include key words that would help him pass through Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). He also participated in workshops to sharpen his job search strategies. Santhosh found his confidence soaring by practicing mock interviews with his Career Advisor and seeking support for any concerns he had along the way. He applied his new knowledge right away and began to receive calls to interview. In fact, before he even completed Calgary Career Hub’s workshop series, Santhosh landed a job - an exciting step forward as a Banking Service Advisor at ATB Financial.

Looking back, Santhosh says the one-on-one support from Calgary Career Hub made a huge difference. His Career Advisor’s encouragement and personalized guidance kept him motivated through the toughest parts of his journey. Today, Santhosh is proud to be working in his chosen field and grateful he didn’t give up on his dream. His determination, resilience, and openness to learning paved the way to success.
